Zaculeu

Prior to the construction of the three bottle classrooms, the school infrastructure consisted of 10 classrooms, predominantly constructed from cinder block. However, three of these classrooms are not only very old, dating back to their construction after the 1976 earthquake, but they are also small and inadequate for modern educational standards. While our ideal scenario involves building six new classrooms to accommodate the growing student population, we recognize the value of incremental progress and we are thrilled to be starting with these three new bottle classrooms, which are built in an open area the community has. Fortunately, the community of Zaculeu has the support of the Ministry of Education and is providing additional teachers to use the completed classrooms.
