Xeabaj (phase II)

Xeabaj (phase II)

In the Xeabaj community, where approximately 500 people reside, access to education is deeply valued. The local school serves 90 students and is fortunate to have a strong team of nine dedicated teachers. However, despite this strength, the school faces a major challenge: a lack of physical space to support quality learning.

With only three small classrooms and a kitchen, the limited infrastructure is stretched thin. Each space serves multiple functions—from hosting classes to acting as a computer area, library, and storage room. During hotter days, the high temperatures inside often push teachers to hold lessons outdoors, as the conditions inside the classrooms can become uncomfortable and distracting for students.

As the student population continues to grow, the lack of adequate infrastructure has become a pressing issue. Without additional classrooms, students face overcrowded learning conditions, and resources remain stretched thin. The community recognized the urgent need for expansion but, despite numerous requests to public entities for support, was unable to secure the necessary assistance.

When Hug It Forward learned about these challenges, we saw an opportunity to partner with the community to create a sustainable solution. Through collaboration and hard work, new bottle classrooms were built to provide a dedicated learning space, including a computer classroom and additional educational facilities.

This project not only improves the school’s infrastructure but also offers students a more comfortable and supportive environment to pursue their education. Hug It Forward is honored to support the Xeabaj community and is grateful to all who contributed to making this initiative a reality.
