Sacalá

Sacalá

Sacala means “white boy” and the Elders say there’s a spirit of a white boy that lives in the area.

The project (elementary school) will benefit 271 kids, 12 teachers and more than 300 families in the area.

It only took 3 months for this community to collect all the bottles needed for their school!!
Most of the members of this community are a part of a Mayan co-op that helps families find a market for the products they make where they combine wooden products made in the community with the textiles that women weave at home. These products are sold in Antigua and Guatemala City.
