Panimache Primero (phase III)

Panimache Primero is a vibrant community committed to the education and well-being of its youth. Located in Guatemala, the Official Rural Mixed School serves as the primary educational hub for the area, currently accommodating 644 students across various grade levels.

Despite the community’s dedication to education, the school faced a growing challenge: overcrowding. With only 19 classrooms and 22 teachers, the school was operating beyond its capacity. Three teachers were using classrooms at the nearby middle school, a temporary solution that created difficulties in maintaining academic consistency, privacy, and access to materials.

To help address this issue, the community requested the construction of two new classrooms. Due to limited space on school grounds, these additional bottle classrooms were seen as a sustainable and practical solution.

Hug It Forward partnered with Panimache Primero to support the construction of two eco-friendly classrooms using recycled plastic bottles, known as eco-bricks. These new spaces will help alleviate overcrowding and provide a more stable and focused learning environment for both teachers and students.

Hug It Forward is proud to support the efforts of Panimache Primero and looks forward to seeing the continued impact of community-led education.
