Panabajal is located 16 miles away from the center of San Juan Comalapa, Chimaltenango. Panabe’j Jal means “corncob”. People in Panajabal grow their own coffee, corn, and beans. They also grow a lot of different kinds of fruits & vegetables such as peaches, raspberries, strawberries and peas. Many of the women weave their own “guipiles” (traditional blouses) that usually take up to three months to complete. People from Panabajal mainly speak Spanish but is a completely indigenous community. Over 70% of community members speak their native Mayan language, Kaqchikel.

This project for new bottle classrooms will benefit 120 students, 5 teaching staff members and 800 families in the area.
