San Cristobal

The elementary and middle school, Juan Bautista is currently letting INEB (Instituto Nacional de Educacion Basica- High School) utilize their facility as they do not have one of their own. The municipality has already built 4 classrooms but are still in need of more to accommodate all 514 students.

Due to the region and location of San Cristobal students come a wide range of municipalities in the department of Totonicapan. Some students travel upwards of 2 hours to get to school. Most of these students are bilingual as the department of Totonicapan has one of the highest percentages of indigenous populations (97% statistic according to United Nations Development Programme).
