Panimacac

Panimacac

Panimacac means “Big Fire” and this communities name comes after a big fire found in the area that was very hard to extinguish.

The community is surrounded by many mountains, which are very important to the Mayan culture. They called these mountains “altars”.

The project (middle school) will benefit 44 students and 3 staff members.
This is the first project in this new municipality and now thanks to this communities efforts, many people from neighboring communities have visited the school and are now interested in building their own bottle school.

Panimacac is currently collecting more bottles to replace 3 old classrooms built in the 80’s that are not safe for the kids.
