On May 11, 2012, the first bottle school was inaugurated in El Salvador in the community of Los Puentecitos. It’s the 17th bottle school in total! Click here for pictures!
Bottle schools 18 and 19 are under construction in Guatemala in the communities of Santa Rosa and Pachay.
The next bottle school voluntourism trip will take place from June 14 to June 20, 2012. Volunteers will be placing bottles in the walls of the bottle school in Pachay!

Hug It Forward is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that empowers rural communities in Guatemala to build "bottle schools": schools built using plastic soda bottles stuffed with inorganic trash.
Entire communities come together to clean their environment and build a bottle school, creating the opportunity of education and a brighter future. The average cost is just $5,000 per classroom.
