2012 is going to be a big year, with many more communities building their own bottle school!
In January 2012 we broke ground on a bottle school in Panicuy, where 17 volunteers visited as part of voluntourism trip and helped construct the foundations. We also started construction on the first bottle school outside Guatemala - in El Salvador - and we intend to break ground on 3 more bottle schools in the next 30 days.
There are many more communities in Guatemala that need bottle schools - and in other countries too. Can you help us raise funds? Or come on a voluntourism trip and be part of building a bottle school with your own hands!
Just click the "Get Involved" button on the right to start fundraising! 100& of your donation is spent directly on the ground in communities where bottle schools are built.
Hug It Forward is a movement to inspire people everywhere to live their passion while giving back to make a lasting change in the world.
We empower rural communities in Guatemala to build "bottle schools": schools built using plastic soda bottles and other trash. Entire communities come together to clean their environment and build a bottle school, creating the opportunity of education and a brighter future.
14 bottle schools have been completed in 2 years, at an average cost of $5,000 per classroom. There is a need for many more!
Can you help us by fundraising or volunteering?
100% of your tax-deductible donation goes towards building the next Bottle School. A separate group of private donors fund our operating costs so you don’t have to.
